Gosh is it really that long since I've been on updating this blog? Must be!

Well hello world. Here at Taylors we are still extending our range of products. We have completely revamped our work wear section which now includes Dickies, Lbrador, Apache and Dewalt among the new stock lines. If you need any clothing for work come and have a look.

We are currently working on a revamped web site which will include a much wider range of products than is currently shown. This takes time but we are hoping to have the new site up and running early 2012.

Showroom extension

As a follow on from my last post we are pleased to announce that we are extending our showroom to create room for additional stock lines including a more comprehensive range of workwear and safety footwear. I will update the post in the next few days to keep you up to date with the changes.

Opening times

I have had a request to publish our showroom opening times on our web site. The web site is, of course, open 24/7 but for anyone who wishes to visit us the opening hours are as follows.

Mon - Thur: 7.30 am 'til 5.30 pm
Fri: 7.30 am 'til 5.00 pm
Sat: 9.00 am 'til 1.00 pm
Sun: closed

White Christmas?

I don't know about that, more likely to be a damp one. According the the BBC weather last night we may get a couple of dry days by the end of the week, who knows.

We are getting ready for our traditonal works Christmas meal at the local chinese (traditional for us anyway) on the 19th. It's good to get together outside of work and enjoy a friendly evening together. The guys have done a great job over the last 12 months despite the down-turn so they deserve it (that's me guaranteed Christmas cards now anyway).

We will be closing for our Christmas break on Wednesday 23rd, returning on the 4th January but with web site updates, etc I guess I will still be "doing it for the firm" over the break.

Stainless Reputation.

We sell a lot of stainless fasteners and fixings and people buy them for their long lasting attributes. Did you know however that stainless is one of the most recyclable materials there is? What d'you want???

People ask me what is the number one question people ask me at work? The answer is from people who come into the showroom and ask if I have a bolt in stock like the sample they have but longer, wider and with a different head!

It's quite easy to dismiss these customers as a waste of time. I can understand the argument but, personally, I can't agree. I look at them more as someone who can benefit from my 30+ years experience in the fastener trade. Why should they be expected to know as much about fasteners and fixings as I do? Whatever you buy you rely on a salesman knowing more about a subject than you do and our trade isn't any different. So rather than dismiss this type of customer we welcome them.

As one of my former bosses once said to me " you never know whether that person wanting one bolt might be a buyer of a major manufacturer". We can hold witness to this as a guy who used to come into the showroom to buy bits and pieces for his motorbike turned out to be exactly that and now has a regular spend with us of £1000-£2000 a month.

So always be polite to everyone you sell to, you never know........................

Amy Adams, our Admin person, is suffering today. She popped her knee out over the weekend but is bravely carrying on chasing money, etc... don't you just love her? - Seriously though we wish her a speedy recovery.

Olympic Village

We have been pleased to have been able to do our own small bit to support the 2012 Olympics in London by providing stainless steel woodscrews for the doors in the olympic village. It might not sound like too much of a deal but we live and breath fasteners and fixings so to us it is a job well done!
